Steel Coil Hauling

Four of our six key markets run mostly coil. Since 2014 we have moved standup, skidded and heavy steel coil between mills, processors and service centers across Indiana and the Midwest, on flatbeds and with drivers trained for it.

01 — What we haul

Coil, every kind.

Coil freight is heavy and high-value, and how it is loaded matters as much as how fast it moves. These are the coil loads we run every week.

01

Standup coil

Single standup coils and two-coil loads, the most common freight on our Granite City, Butler and Louisville lanes.

02

Skidded coil

Coil shipped on skids, a regular load out of Delta and on the Jeffersonville / Louisville lane.

03

Heavy coil

Single steel coils up to 72,000 lb, and heavy two-coil loads, some well over 59,000 lb of cargo.

04

Flat-rolled steel

Flat-rolled sheets, plates and mill rolls, also common on our Butler and Louisville lanes.

02 — Securement

Secured by drivers who haul coil.

Every Grid-Line driver meets our experience requirements and completes a two-week flatbed and steel securement training program. Drivers bring at least two years of verifiable CDL experience, including a year on flatbeds.

Our drivers haul coil every day and know how mill and processor docks run. We follow FMCSA compliance standards and conduct regular equipment inspections, so heavy single coils and multi-coil loads are secured properly and delivered on schedule.

With our expertise in permitting and DOT regulations, we handle oversize and overweight material within legal guidelines.

03 — Coil lanes

Where we run coil.

We cover a 300+ mile radius from Schererville with same-day or next-day delivery, and many of our coil lanes are loaded in both directions, which keeps capacity steady for shippers on either end.

Coil outside these lanes? See our full service areas, or ask: whether your freight is within our service area or beyond, we will tell you what we can do. Shipping from our home region? See northwest Indiana and Indiana flatbed trucking. New to moving steel? Read how steel is transported.
