Dedicated Flatbed Freight

When the same freight moves every day, booking it load by load is wasted work. Grid-Line tailors transportation plans to your needs, providing dedicated equipment and reliable drivers so your material moves on your schedule, with a dispatch team that works as an extension of yours.

01 — What dedicated means

Your lanes, our trucks.

A dedicated program assigns equipment and drivers to your freight on a recurring basis. Instead of a quote and a search for a truck each time, there is a plan: how many trucks, which days, which docks, what time. The drivers learn your sites and your product, and the equipment is set up for it.

That can be as simple as a trailer dropped at your dock for next-day pickup, or as involved as a daily shuttle with a fixed truck count. Either way the freight moves on a schedule you set, with same-day or next-day delivery throughout the Midwest as required.

02 — Who it fits

Built for repeat freight.

Whether you require 10 local steel coil transfers per day or 200 weekly loads to out-of-state job sites, we have the capacity to handle it. These are the programs we run most.

01

Mill to processor

Regular shipments from a mill that need delivering to your processors. We set up a streamlined process of getting your material where it needs to go, without the hassle of finding a truck or booking the freight each time.

02

Daily orders

Loads that ship multiple times a day or week. You tell us how many trucks you need and how often, and our equipment and professional drivers are there as needed.

03

On-site equipment

Drivers and specific equipment ready for your use. Trailers dropped at your facility to be loaded and picked up the next day. If more equipment is needed, you can count on our fleet.

04

Dedicated dispatch

Our dispatchers work as an extension of your team. From our office they coordinate directly with the drivers and plan equipment around your schedule, so your staff can stay focused on what they do best.

03 — Who does the work

Owner-operators, home daily.

Every Grid-Line driver is an owner-operator with at least two years of verifiable CDL experience, a year on flatbeds, and our two-week flatbed and steel securement training behind them. Our runs are regional, with an average loaded haul of about 126 miles, so drivers are home daily and the same people can work your lanes week after week.

Dispatch is first in, first out, run from our Schererville office, and on a dedicated program your dispatcher plans equipment around your schedule rather than the board. See drive for us for how the program is built on the driver side.

04 — Freight and markets

Steel first, Midwest wide.

Most dedicated work is steel: coil, sheet, plate, bar and pipe between mills, processors and service centers. We also run lumber, building materials and other flatbed freight on a schedule. See transportation solutions for everything we haul and steel coil hauling for the coil side.

Dedicated freight FAQ

What does dedicated flatbed freight mean?

Equipment and drivers assigned to your freight on a recurring basis, planned around your schedule rather than booked load by load. That can be a daily shuttle between two plants, a set number of trucks each morning, or trailers dropped at your dock for next-day pickup.

How much volume do you need to set up a dedicated program?

Whether you require 10 local steel coil transfers per day or 200 weekly loads to out-of-state job sites, we have the capacity to handle it. Tell us how many trucks you need and how often, and we will build the plan around it.

Can you drop trailers at our facility?

Yes. We can drop trailers at your facility to be loaded on your time and picked up the next day, and we can have specific equipment ready for your use as needed.

Who will be driving?

Every Grid-Line driver is an owner-operator with at least two years of verifiable CDL experience, including a year on flatbeds, and completes our two-week flatbed and steel securement training. Regional runs mean they are home daily, so the same drivers can work your lanes day after day.

What freight fits a dedicated program?

Anything that rides on a flatbed and moves on a schedule: steel coil, sheet, plate, bar and pipe between mills, processors and service centers, lumber and building materials to job sites, and plant-to-plant transfers.

Where can you run dedicated lanes?

Within a 300+ mile radius of Schererville, Indiana: Chicagoland, northwest Indiana, Indianapolis, Butler, Delta, Jeffersonville / Louisville and Granite City, with same-day or next-day delivery throughout the Midwest as required.
